The
Avant-Garde was a psychsploitation project put together in late 1967 by Chuck Woolery and Elkin "Bubba" Fowler. They put out three singles on Columbia in a years time, and had a minor hit with
'Naturally Stoned'. It's most definitely a period piece that a lot of folks would label as cheese, but charming nonetheless if you're into to this sort of thing. You can't deny the excellent production and the lyrics are entertaining to say the least.
'Honey And Gall' on the flip once again features some great production only this time we are dealing with a 'heavy' spiritual theme.
Fowler went on to pursue a career in folk music while Woolery went on to become a successful game show host...
